Homes for Ukraine
We understand that some of our tenants would like to offer their spare rooms to provide accommodation for Ukrainian refugees. We fully support this scheme and, wherever possible, will work with those who may wish to offer up an unoccupied spare bedroom to those fleeing the war.
If you’re planning to be a Homes for Ukraine host, here’s what you need to know.
The government’s Homes for Ukraine Scheme supports people who can offer a spare room, or separate self-contained accommodation, to Ukrainian refugees for at least six months.
If you decide to register with the government’s scheme, please let us know and, download and complete the form at the bottom of this page. We will contact you to arrange a visit within 10 days of receipt of your application.
What are the options for hosting those seeking resettlement?
The most current information can be accessed through the government’s ‘Homes for Ukraine’ information page and can be viewed here. There is also a set of Frequently Asked Questions.
We encourage you to read and consider this information carefully before making your decision.
As part of the resettlement scheme, you will also need to register your interest in becoming a sponsor here. We will need to confirm that you have done this before agreeing for you to host.
I’d like to consider opening my home up as part of the Ukraine refugee settlement programme. Am I able to do this?
We want to make sure that this is as easy as possible for you to do this if you wish. If you plan to take in an individual or family, we ask that you let us know by filling in our form below.
What else should I consider?
You should not request payment or charge any individuals you host as part of this scheme.
We’d also ask you to consider the following points before you make this decision.
- The size of your home. There are strict guidelines on how many people can live within our properties to ensure that these are not considered overcrowded. You can find more information on this in your tenancy agreement or by contacting us.
- Other specific conditions relevant to your home. There may be additional conditions attached to your home, for example, age limits. If you are unsure if this applies to you, please get in touch to check.
- Security checks: You may be subject to property and personal checks by agencies managing the government’s scheme.
- Insurance arrangements. It is worth checking whether any insurance policies on your home or contents could be affected by hosting.
