Two Rivers Housing team digs deep for Christmas gift appeal
Our team has donated over 115 gifts to the Forest of Dean Salvation Army Christmas Present Appeal this year. We have also donated a further £500 to buy presents through our partnership with materials supplier Travis Perkins.
We’ve been supporting the Salvation Army’s Christmas Present Appeal through staff donations for a number of years. And this year, team members collected over 115 Christmas gifts for children in the Forest of Dean, which will be donated to families who are struggling to cover the extra costs of the festive season.
Donated gifts include a variety of toys, arts and crafts supplies and clothes for babies and children from 0 to 16 years and were delivered to the Forest of Dean Salvation Army Hub in Broadwell earlier this month.
Alongside this, we have donated £500 from the Travis Perkins Social Value Legacy Fund to help make sure every child in Gloucestershire will have a present to open this Christmas. The fund is generated from our material purchases with Travis Perkins throughout the year.
It has also been used to support other community projects across the county in 2025 including providing kitchen workstations for the Salvation Army Hub, setting up a community larder in Sedbury, donations to the Sharing Kitchen in Newent and supporting the housing association’s Holiday Clubs across Gloucestershire.
Speaking about the gift donations, Anthea Tawney, Community Engagement Manager at Two Rivers Housing said: “We know there are many people facing difficult times this Christmas and are so pleased we can help ease the pressure of buying presents for these families.
“We are so grateful to our team, who have generously donated gifts to support the families living in our communities. We also want to thank Travis Perkins, who have helped us make an even bigger contribution to the Christmas present appeal though its social value fund – we know the difference this will make to families in our communities.”
Phillip Jones, Customer Operations Manager at Travis Perkins Managed Services added: “We’re delighted to support the Salvation Army Christmas Present Appeal and be able to play a part in helping families this Christmas. We are proud to help support and strengthen the relationship between Two Rivers Housing and its customers, especially in such challenging times.”
The gifts will be distributed to local families in time for Christmas.
